Projects
Community Development
I collaborated with a team of graduate students on a project for a nonprofit exploring the recent migration of black families in two townships. After conducting a data review analysis and parcel survey of Maplewood & and South Orange, we identified the pressing need for innovative affordable housing models that could alleviate existing challenges. We proposed three theoretical funding models that could help reimagine new ways to finance home ownership and provide long-term solutions.
Environmental Justice & Affordable Housing
I collaborated with a team of graduate students on a project for a local nonprofit aimed at addressing climate justice and affordable housing solutions. Through detailed research, we identified potential partnerships and opportunities related to land use and housing policy, ultimately providing valuable recommendations for the organization to consider. The project served as the first phase of a partnership between The New School and El Puente aimed to reduce air pollution and combat displacement in their Brooklyn neighborhood.
Social Enterprise (Mock)
My graduate peers and I created our mock enterprise ALLEVIATE in response to the question, how might we shift hospital culture to make well-being, self-care, and retention a priority? We developed an interview questionnaire to ask nurses and healthcare workers about their work experience in hospitals. From the answers that were provided, we were able to determine some key causes and impacts of burnout in hospitals.
Alleviate positioned itself as a wellness broker and culture change agent within the hospital system. Our goal focused on democratizing existing technology and leveraging our networks, social capital, design thinking, and change management expertise to operationalize nurse well-being as part of a hospital’s organizational culture and business strategy.
